The Gsindboden: a place to pause for a moment

Family hike with a view

There are places that you don't have to conquer - you can simply reach them. The Gsindboden above Naturns is one such place. A small forest clearing with a big impact. Anyone who visits this place immediately senses that South Tyrol is still the way it has always been - close to nature, peaceful and full of energy.

The path begins in Tschirland

The starting point of this leisurely hike is the district of Tschirland, just above the village center of Naturns. Even here, a touch of rural originality wafts through the well-tended farms. The well-signposted Gsindboden nature trail begins between apple trees and meadows, accompanied by the calming sound of the forest.

A walk for all the senses

The trail is easy to manage - even with children. For around 4.5 kilometers, the trail leads gently uphill, past the Waldschenke (now RAMILIA) with its playground and resting bench. If you're lucky, you might come across a squirrel along the way or discover the bright colors of the forest inhabitants - from soft moss green to the rich brown of the forest floor.

Those interested in history will enjoy the old quartz quarry, which tells the story of how hard-working people once were, and the information boards, which clearly explain the special features of the local flora and fauna.

At the Gsindboden: Far-reaching views and quiet moments

After just over an hour, you reach your destination: the Gsindboden opens up as a peaceful clearing in the middle of the mixed forest. A beautiful viewing platform offers a view over the Adige Valley, the scattered settlements on the sunny slope and - on a clear day - as far as Val Venosta and Val Senales in the distance.

Here you can linger, take a deep breath, perhaps grab a sandwich from your rucksack or simply enjoy the moment. Because this place requires no haste - just presence.

Return via the Tschirlander Heide

The way back leads through the Tschirlander Heath, an ancient nature reserve that is now a protected area. Especially in spring and early summer, the variety of plants here is at its most beautiful. You soon reach Tschirland again - filled with nature and renewed energy.
